LS Food Drive

Food insecurity is on the rise in Massachusetts. In 2024, 37% of Massachusetts households faced food insecurity. What is food insecurity? It's when people don't have enough to eat and don't know where their next meal will come from.

Food insecurity in Massachusetts has increased 94% since 2019, with 1 in 3 households experiencing food insecurity in October 2025. During the government shutdown, approximately 42 million people on SNAP are at risk of losing food assistance, and the impact is already being felt by millions more who rely on food banks, including federal employees who are not currently being paid.

What can we do about this? Donate if you’re able. For the next 2 months, we are running an LS Food Drive in partnership with the LSPO. House offices will be collection sites where you can donate canned/boxed food/dry goods (see list). Donations will be collected and distributed to the Lincoln, Sudbury, and Greater Boston Food Pantries.

Where does Advisory fit into this Food Drive? In December, we will be running our now annual House Cup Challenge where houses will compete against each other in weekly challenges to win bragging rights. The house that donates the most items will earn an additional 50 points for their House team. We will tally at the end of November and again in December, with points being awarded to the highest donating house(s).

Donations will be accepted beginning Monday, Nov. 17 to Dec. 19th.
