  • Thank You BTS Night Volunteers!

A big THANK YOU to those who helped make BTS night a success. Hospitality co-chairs, Catherine Messina & Susan Ohler, for providing a delicious dinner to feed the entire LS staff and to the many parent bakers & salad preparers who donated their time & talents to make the staff dinner delicious. Your efforts help the teachers and staff know how much they are appreciated during a very long day!

Many thanks to all the parent volunteers who helped with the various club, team, and class steering committee tables in the cafeteria. It was nice to see so many extracurricular activities represented. Thank you, parents and guardians, for supporting them.

  • Wed., Oct.11: Metrowest Adolescent Health Survey Results

Wednesday, October 11: Metrowest Adolescent Health Survey Results

Are our students more stressed now than they were in 2006? How many LS students report driving after using marijuana? Do your 9th graders feel more pressured to post things on social media that will get a lot of “likes”? These questions and more are addressed by the Metrowest Adolescent Health Survey, which monitors trends in health and risk behaviors among youth.

We administer this survey every two years and the 2016 survey is the 6th administration of this survey by the Metrowest Health Foundation. The questions on the survey cover topics ranging from substance use to violence to mental health, and on Wednesday, October 11th, the results from the 2016 test will be shared in a World Café format at 7:30 in the LS cafeteria.

  • Registration for Goodnow Library's Girls Who Code Club is Now Open - Starts Oct 5

Registration for Goodnow Library's Girls Who Code Club is now open.

Girls Who Code Clubs are FREE programs for 6th to 12th grade girls to explore coding in a fun and friendly way!

This year, we're proud to announce that our club will be led by a coalition of women working professionally in the science, engineering, and tech fields.

Tech jobs are among the fastest growing in the country, yet girls are being left behind. While interest in computer science ebbs over time, the biggest drop off happens between the ages of 13-17. Girls Who Code was founded with a single mission: to close the gender gap in technology.

We'll meet every Thursday evening, starting October 5, (for about 30 weeks) at the library to make friends and learn how to code. Please sign-up only if you can attend every week.

    Please register at https://goodnowlibrary.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/gwc/
